Other disinfectants for wounds
?@Makiron (Combined drug/solution)
Makiron contains a cationic soap, a hemostatic, an analgesic, and an antihistamine.
Indications: Disinfection of wounds.
Dosage: Apply directly to wounds.
?A Hibitane (Chlorhexidine gluconate solution 5%)
Chlorhexidine gluconate 5% solution has little irritant effect and a broad antimicrobial spectrum. It has gained wide acceptance since it can be applied directly to mucosal areas and wounds.
Indications: Disinfection of hands/fingers, wounds, and mucosal areas.
Dosage: 1.0.1-0.5% solution (a 50- to 10-fold dilution) should be used to disinfect hands/fingers. 2.0.05% solution (a 100-fold dilution) should be used to disinfect skin wounds. 3.0.02% solution (a 250-told dilution) should be used to disinfect the pudendum and the external genitalia. 4.0.1-0.5% solution should be used to disinfect medical apparatus and instruments.
Storage: Protected from light at room temperature.
?BHyporite (Sodium hypochiorite solution 10%)
Sodium hypochlorite 10% solution can be used to disinfect fingers, skin, medical apparatus, general apparatus/equipment,furniture, and wards that are contaminated with hepatitis B virus or HIV.
Indications: Disinfection for hepatitis B virus and HIV.
Dosage: 10-told dilution (1% solution) should be prepared for use. For further details, see the package insert.
Storage: Protected from light at room temperature in a cool temperature.
Boric acid
Boric acid (3 g/sachef)
Boric acid does not have a potent bactericidal activity and therefore cannot be used to disinfect wounds. It has no irritant effect.
Indications: For washing the eyes, lavage, and compresses.
Dosage: 2% solution should be used to wash the eyes, while a 1-3% solution should be used for gargling and compresses.
(Note) boric acid solution is prepared at approximately 2% by dissolving 3 g of boric acid (one sachet) in 150 ml of water.

 

Saponated cresol solution
Saponated cresol solution
Cresol is a phenol derivative with a strong pungent odor.
Saponafed cresol solution combines the bactericidal activity of cresol with the washing action of soap.A 50% cresol solution is commercially available and should be used after dilution to various concentrations for specific purposes.
Indications: Disinfection and control of communicable disease.
Dosage: 1.0.5-1% solution (a 100-to 50-fold dilution) should be used to disinfect wounds. 2.1-2% solution (a 50 to 25-fold dilution) should be used to disinfect hands and fingers. 3.3-5-10% solution (a 20-, 10- to 5- fold dilution) should be used to disinfect excretions.

 

Medicinal soap
?@Osvan (Benzalkonium chloride solution 10%)
?AHyamine (Benzethonium chloride solution 10%)
Medicinal soap is used widely because of its many advantages, including a broad antimicrobial spectrum, little irritant effect, little dermatoloqic toxicity, and no caustic effect on metals or rubber.
Indications: Disinfection
Dosage: ?@ & ?A 1.100-told dilution (0.1% solution) should be used to disinfect hands/fingers, skin and apparatus. 2.200-fold dilution (0.05% solution) should be used to disinfect mucosal areas and wounds.

 

Drugs for suppurative diseases
Antibiotics for external use
?@ Gentacin (Gentamicin sulfate ointment 0.1%)
?A Achromycin (Tetracycline HOI ointment 3%)
?BTerra-Cortril (Oxytetracycline HCI/Hydrocortisone ointment)
External preparations of antibiotics are used to treat superficial dermal or mucosal infections. Product ?B is a combination of an antibiotic and a corticosteroid.
Indications: Superficial dermal/mucosal infections (e.g., turuncles, carbuncles, and folliculitis). Treatment of erosions and ulcers as well as prevention of secondary infection of wounds, burns, and various skin diseases.
Applied once to several times daily directly or with sterile gauze.
Precautions: Use of the drug should be discontinued when any of the following symptoms/signs occurs: itching, redness, swelling, fever, and a feeling of warmth. Chronic use of the drug should be avoided.
Storage: At room temperature. Expiry date: ?@ 3 years. ?A 4 years. ?B 5 years.
